At Westwood Racquet Club we are dedicated to providing the highest quality instruction in a fun environment for our Junior Development program. Providing a variety of programming for all ability levels ensures that we are able to serve the needs of all of our junior players.The following is a parent/player guide for initially determining where players will start. Players will not be able to move up a group until standards are reached and maintained or on the recommendation of the coach. Players should arrive 15 minutes early to the first class for placement determination details.
The game of tennis is modified for younger inexperienced players, in which the skills of the game can be learned and used. Games are played with scaled down courts and shorter nets. - Saturday — 11:15 to Noon (4-7yrs old)
- Saturday — 12:15 to 1:00pm (8-10 yrs old)
- Monday — 4:00 to 4:45pm (4-10yrs old)

For juniors 11-13 years of age new to tennis or have played before but never taken lessons. Players will be introduced to tennis and learn basic stroke techniques as well as develop game sense. Because of their age and physicality, players in the novice program typically progress rapidly to the full court tennis.

- Saturday — 11:00 to Noon
- $14 per class
Players must successfully complete tasks such as serving, returning, rallying, volleying, and overhead smashing within the court area. Players progress to full court tennis where techniques and ideal tactics are further developed through drills and game situations.

- Thursday — 4:30 to 6:00pm
- $17 per class
Instruction will incorporate technical and tactical skills, match play skills, doubles skills, and mental and emotional games. Players will practice with the top adult members of the club in a structured and flexible program which includes coordination and speed agility exercises, physical work and skills underpinning technical and tactical work.

Designed for juniors who train year-round with tennis being their primary sport and who are actively involved with USTA and/or high school level competition... emphasis on specific game styles, weapon development, offensive and defensive shot making and tactics, mental toughness, emotional stability, goal setting, environmental skills and fitness.
- Monday — 3:30 to 5:30pm
- Wednesday — 3:30 to 5:30pm
- $25 per class
Players will simulate tournament play, including singles and doubles matches. This program is great for preparing juniors for upcoming tournaments or for competitive players wanting to compete at higher levels.
